Hey! Sorry for any inconvenience. I don't see any duplicated payments on my end. If you didn't receive an email it likely did not go through.
Could you check your bank to make sure they did not go through? Also please email me at support@minimeters.app and I can look for a specific email address in my list of purchases. -Joe
From the fact that I haven't heard from the bank yet, it seems that the payment has not been made properly. I will try to make the payment again and check it again. Thank you
I tried downloading the demo for my mac (Sonoma 14.2) & I can't get it to work, or I cant find the program once I install it. Any tips for this? Just wanted to make sure it's compatible/runs on my setup before buying
Hey! Sorry you're running into issues. The demo should be installed in your Applications folder. It will be called "MiniMeters-demo.app". I just tried it here on my Senoma machine to confirm. Let me know if that helps.
Ok thanks! I was able to get it working as a standalone - I guess it's just not showing up in pro tools for some reason. I'm able to meter off the overall audio output of my interface so I suppose that works too.
MiniMeters is standalone only (at least at the moment, that may change in the future). If you want to use MiniMetersServer which is offered as a VST3, CLAP, and Audio Unit you will need to use a tool that can load VST3s in Pro Tools as it only supports AAX natively.
I clicked purchase before signing up,
but I didn't receive a download email, so I had to pay one more time.
Can I get a refund? Or do I have to sign up and pay?
Hey! Thank you for picking it up and sorry for the inconvenience. You do not need to sign up, but likely what happened was your email was misspelled so it never got delivered.
Could you please send me an email at support@minimeters.app from the email address you used for the successful purchase and I’ll see if I can find the invalid email in my order list.
I know you fixed the issue with having multiple copies open, but I actually have been using this 'bug' as a feature with my students in voice coaching, to allow a running comparison of different microphones (ie my own and Zoom) - Is there a way you could re-implement this intentionally? Maybe open a second instance via the Audio Input panel?
I apologize that the change caused an inconvenience. I appreciate you letting me know. Hit me up at support@minimeters.app and I can get you an older version to hold on to for the meantime if you need it.
I'll find a solution. There are some issues that could arise when using multiple copies (particularly corrupt settings files) but I understand the desire. I will find a way to make this work intentionally.
hello I just bought minimeters directly from PayPal without an user, now there is an update missing but it take me to the official website and its seems that I need to buy it again , is it possible to get the update if I bought it directly with PayPal ?
yo im trying to download the file but it says minimeter exe isnt commonly downloaded and it blocks the download. IM trying to trust the file but i cant find anywhere how to do it
Hey! Sorry for the inconvenience. I'm not sure what browser you're using, but some like Microsoft Edge can be really picky and make you jump through hoops to get the download to work.
Assuming you are on Edge, you need to click the three dots (...) in the download panel, click "Keep", click "Show more," and click "Keep anyway."
The reason this appears is because, at the moment, I am an individual developer and Microsoft requires an EV (Extended Validation) Code Signing certificate to bypass this screen. As well as the SmartScreen that comes up after the download. I do code sign MiniMeters with an OV certificate that is associated with my personal identity. You can check this once it is downloaded in the properties pane. I also have recently set up my LLC which should allow me to get an EV certificate soon to bypass those annoyances. Sorry again for the annoyance this causes.
it could also be your antivirus blocking it through your browser, try a different browser or turn off your antivirus for a sec (the built in one in windows is called windows defender). also once you run the installer, windows might try and block it. click "more info" and "run anyway".
Are you referring to the direction of the Waveform? At the moment no, but I can consider adding that in the future. However, in most of the audio software I use the Waveforms tend to be drawn in the same way that MiniMeters draws them. Let me know if I am misunderstanding the question.
hey im having an issue with this program, i have a dell i5 windows 10 and app started having issues the other day, so i uninstalled and tried to redownload and now its saying the app is incompatible. wtf do i do 😭 i have literally tried everything
Hey! I'm not sure why it would be saying it is incompatible. Are you on the latest Windows 10 version? MiniMeters requires Windows 10 version "10.0.19041.0."
holy shit dude thank you so much!!!!!! IT WORKED😳 i've been trying to get this back on my desktop for past 3 days now, i appreciate your speedy response. absolute goat!!👌
Quick question / bug report - Mac OS Sonoma on an M2 Mini, running the app full screen on another monitor in portrait orientation - seems recently that all windows can be scaled properly to fill the screen, in my configuration I have the sterometer and spectrum filling the top quarter of my screen, when trying to fill the screen to eliminate the edge visible of the desktop the app drops its framerate significantly after resizing - moving the window back so there is a sliver of the desktop visible restore the full framerate
The other meters all fill the screen properly to the edge, but when trying to expand the window where settings appears it won't maintain framerate.... any suggestions on something I can adjust, or if I can provide any logs / more info please let me know
Hey! Sorry you're running into this. It seems I am able to replicate the same exact lag you're experiencing by simply making the primary window wider than the screen resolution. I'm not sure the origin of the issue as when I check the CPU usage it drops when it is in this state. It might be something macOS is doing that is causing a delay in the render loop.
I will look into this over the next day or two and see what I can do. Thank you for reporting this.
I took the stupid leap of installing the macOS 15 Developer Beta the second it came out... minimeters actually appears to be more responsive and the "edge" issue described above doesn't seem to be an issue anymore... DAW and plugins seem to have come through unscathed which has not always been the case even with release versions.
Hey Breity, could you please elaborate what you mean by "support ASIO?" In almost all cases ASIO is exclusive to a single application, which means I cannot intercept and capture audio.
If you're looking to monitor an ASIO input I can look into supporting that, but then you could only use that audio device with MiniMeters. This is a limitation, but also the primary selling point, of ASIO as it tends to reduce latency.
However, if you want to use MiniMeters with a DAW that is using ASIO you can simply add the MiniMeters Server Plugin to the end of your master channel and then select it in MiniMeters. Let me know if that addresses your concern.
First off, I understand you're disappointed, but this message is quite condescending. I do a lot of testing, but I do not have every graphics card and processor, and OpenGL drivers differ between Nvidia/AMD.
I believe some of the performance issues you're running into may be caused by some changes I made recently to actually help Popped Out module performance on certain AGPUs in some Ryzen processors. The next update (0.8.20) should address this, but I am testing that now. I will likely push that in a couple days (or maybe sooner if some testers report positive results). You can either join the Discord, or email me contact (at) minimeters.app and I can send it to you to test.
It's totally fine! I understand something not meeting expectations. My goal it to have MiniMeters be as performant and stable as reasonably possible and any help testing is appreciated. I haven't yet received a message from you in the email I listed in the last message, nor a message on Discord, but once I get either of those I'll send you the latest test build to see if that addresses the issue. I also might have some troubleshooting steps. I don't know if it will be a night and day difference, but that level of usage is abnormal.
As a note, you are correct that MiniMeters isn't "sleeping" when audio stops. That is definitely something that could help and is something that should be trivial to implement at least in the audio thread.
Hey! If you're fullscreening Live I do not believe it is possible. I would have to convert MiniMeters to a menu bar app. If you don't fullscreen Live you should have no issue clicking "Pin To Top" from within MiniMeters. Let me know if that helps!
I will put my bug report here because your Discord lobby is full. I use the Windows version.
with the last update, I was able to switch between output sound devices with no problems but now every time I do that mini-meters shuts down. I assume this problem stems from the last update because it worked perfectly then.
Hey! I see people join the discord every day, but I have a 5 minute limit on new accounts. Did discord say it was full? It should be no where near the cap.
As for the issue, sorry you're running into that. Could I please ask you get the dump file from %AppData%\MiniMeters as well as the log file from %AppData%\MiniMeters\log_files\ and email them to me at contact (at) minimeters.app? Thank you. I'm sure I can get this working for you.
Hey man thank you..searched for such a standalone app for years. Spend hours searching..and just found it as I googled "LUFS Meter mac standalone". Never searched a standalone LUFS Meter, just a standalone frequency analyzer. Man, thank you. :-)
I don't use Discord or X anymore but was hoping to drop a quick feature request for a setting option to disable multiple instances of the executable from running at one time, much how Ableton has a setting like this. Keep accidentally opening multiple windows of Minimeters and this also problematic when using macros and just a small pet peave I'm hoping would be a quick fix.
Could you please redownload the latest version (0.8.19) off itch.io and see if that fixes these issues for you? Otherwise, I would recommend trying to delete the settings file by following these directions.
I also provide a support email if that is easier for you ( contact (at) minimeters.app ).
Glad the Waveform speed seems to be working. Could you possibly elaborate on the resetting you're experiencing? The only thing I can think of right now is that the MiniMeters window is small and you're seeing things shift because of that. Does disabling any particular module fix it for you?
Hey, unable to accept the discord invite but my issue is being unable to access the update since I did not make an itchio account when I purchased a while ago.
Just wondering, how can I authenticate that I originally purchased in order to access the update without having to purchase again?
Hey! Sorry you're having trouble entering the Discord! If your account is new I think it may limit access since we were having spam issues there.
As for your question: If you purchased MiniMeters on the account you're posting this comment on you should be able to download directly from the purchase page here, or via the original email. If you lost the original email this recovery form should help. Let me know if you need additional assistance.
I have checked with an "apollo solo", there is no direct signal from the card to the minimeters, it only comes from the desktop and it is not the real signal, about 9db less, I have to route the signal to +9 but in the end it is still not exact I use it to have references and it bothers me that I can't have the exact relationship.
Hey! Sorry you’re running into this. In 14.2 Apple broke the audio capture with external interfaces. I added the trim slider to help compensate. I opened a ticket with Apple and am hoping for a fix in a future macOS update. For now I would recommend using the trim slider until a fix is available… alternatively, there are third party options that may help: https://minimeters.app/help/audio-macos/
This looks so great, but I'm concerned that it won't work on my system because the system requirements say it doesn't work with ASIO. Does this mean if I'm using Ableton Live with the ASIO Audio Driver Type on Windows 11, it will not work? Please let me know!
Unfortunately due to the nature of ASIO it does not allow intercepting the audio of the device for applications like monitoring or recording.
However, MiniMeters will still work with the MiniMetersServer plugin. You can simply select "MiniMeters Plugin" in the audio device section of MiniMeters and add the plugin to your master channel in Ableton! Definitely give the demo a try to see if it works well with your setup.
Yeah this totally works! I just put the MiniMetersServer plugin at the end of my master chain and it reads the signal into MiniMeters with no problem. Best $10 plugin purchase I've made in a while! As some advice, I feel that you shouldn't even say that it doesn't work with ASIO because you've developed a workaround with the plugin, so it does indeed work with ASIO if you use the plugin
Hey! Sorry you're running into this! Is the screen fully black or are you able to open the Settings pane? If you can open the settings then I would recommend checking out the Help section's Audio Routing articles.
Alternatively, if you have the ability to reach out over Discord I can help you better there for sure. If it's a more serious bug I will gladly work with you to get it working for you and others.
Hey scnunn! The latest update (0.8.18) may have addressed this issue depending on what was causing it. Could you please give it a try and see if it works for you now?
Thanks for the reply. The modules are all in line with one another horizontally. what would be a good idea would be to have them Vertical as this can work better depending on people displaying monitors or room on their screens
the other thing that I tend to be doing is "pinning and un-pinning" the plugin GUI as things get lost behind or Im running out of screen space.
is there a way to create a hotkey or shortcut to toggle on/off "pin & un-pin" or to minimise and re-open the GUI
Ahh gotcha. I will definitely be supporting vertical and horizontal layouts, as well as a custom layout mode in v1.0. At the moment it's just horizontal and popped out modes.
and while i'm at it :D another amazing feature would be to add reference curve overlays for the spectrum, like for a example a pink noise curve... vision4x has this and it is awesome... Don't get me wrong, i don't want to appear greedy, just want to give suggestions to make this even better! and would definitely pay again for an upgrade including those two features
would you consider to add one more meter to your already amazing tool? I'm specifically looking for a stereo metering tool like this one, because is so great to read and very helpful, and other than the ADPTR tool (wich isn't customisable like yours is), i couldn't find any. i guess a lot of people are looking for this... thanks in advance! all the best and keep up the great work!
Ok, so... an annoying thing has started to happen ever since i updated to v0.8.16. idk how to explain, but it resets the location every time i close and open MiniMeters.
For example, i move it down to the bottom left of my screen and close it, and the next time i open MiniMeters it resets itself to the default location in the top right of the screen. Previously, it saved the location so i didn't need to do anything.
It's just a minor ''issue'' or ''bug'' i noticed, if it even is a bug. idk.
Hey! Sorry you're running into this issue. I don't believe I have changed anything in the way window position is saved in the last version. Could you let me know what OS you're on and if you have "Reposition Offscreen Windows" selected in the settings page?
Yeah, i'm on Windows 10 and yes i do have the "Reposition Offscreen Windows" selected. I honestly have no idea what that setting is even for, but i think it has always been selected. I know i haven't touched it earlier, at least.
I tried to replicate here on my Windows machine here with the latest version of MiniMeters and the window remains where I leave it after quitting and reopening.
The "Reposition Offscreen Windows" setting moves a window back on screen in the case of a display configuration change. Such as removing a monitor. It may be worth turning it off and seeing if that fixes the issue for you. If changing that setting doesn't help, please try the steps listed here. If you're still having issues let me know and I can offer more assistance.
Ohh, alright i get it! I've got "Reposition Offscreen Windows" turned off, and it happened again. I'm so confused, since i have no clue what causes it.
I've been trying to replicate it myself, but it seems to happen at random and not every single time now, weirdly enough. So, i'll try those steps you linked!
Hi, since updating to macOS 14.2 it seems that the input gain running in desktop audio mode has somehow changed? (noticed in both v0.8.14 and 15).
For example: Playing audio files that peak at 0dB (and can confirm from the meters on my interface that these are indeed at 0dB) would usually display on the minimeters waveform meter "maxed out" filling the whole window, for lack of a better term. But since the 14.2 update it seems closer to -14dB (this goes for the readouts on all the modules, not just waveform).
I tried messing with the settings a bit and removing and re-adding minimeters to the desktop recording permissions, but no luck.
Not sure if it's an OS thing, or something that I can troubleshoot further?
Thank you for pointing this out. I just had someone check this for me and they are seeing the issue as well. Something changed on Apple’s side. I’m going to update my development machine and try to find a workaround for this issue. Sorry for the inconvenience.
No worries, I’m happy to help out further if needed.
It’s always frustrating when something like that changes out of the blue and you then have to spend time and resources playing catch up.
I wonder if there’s some sort of way to implement a gain stage in the app before the signal hits the meters? So in settings you could manually set the amplitude, if desired.
I will add the trim setting very soon. I don't really recommend this, but at the moment you can sort of hack your way to doing that by opening the settings file at "~/Library/Preferences/MiniMeters/settings.json" and adding or changing the line that says "trim": 0 to the decibel value you'd like to gain the signal by. The modified audio section should look like this:
I might play around with that when I have some downtime, thanks!
If I make a copy of the unaltered .json file, and put that back before updating to the new version (when released) it should technically revert the settings to default, without potentially messing something up in the future install, right?
Yeah you can back up the settings file! Also, unfortunately, I just updated my development machine to 14.2 and am seeing the issue only when using an external audio device. If it's not too much trouble, could you let me know what audio interface you're using on your primary machine? I am going to have to make a report for this to submit to Apple.
Hey! I understand your apprehension. I would prefer that screen not show up on Windows. MiniMeters is code-signed with an OV certificate and if you click "More info" in that window you will see my personal information that verifies that it is coming from me and not somehow tampered with. If you see that info it should be safe.
Microsoft claims that if enough people download an application that screen will disappear but it appears that the only way I can remove it is by switching certificate types. I will do that in the near future, but it requires me to spend quite a bit of money so I have been putting it off. Sorry about the inconvenience.
Hi, I've really been enjoying MiniMeters, I was just wondering one thing:
Both the Waveform meter and Stereo meter share the same colour scheme representing low, mid and high frequencies, yet the only options for the Spectrum analyser are the static colour line in FFT mode and the seemingly arbitrary red/magenta colours in "bar/both" modes, I think it would be awesome and quite intuitive if the colours of the bars in the bar/both mode followed the same colour transitions of the frequency ranges like the other meters. :)
Thanks for the suggestion. I have considered the same thing, but the "arbitrary" colors are simply assigned to volume. You can customize them in the theme settings if you'd like.
Love your app. I've only had it two days and it's already improved my production workflow considerably.
Four feature requests:
It would be super handy if the modules could be snapped into multiple rows and/or columns. The current "one row or floating" setup is a bit difficult to adjust. It gets the job done, but is way too fiddly. Adding a "layout" option with different frames to select from would be great.
I'd love to be able to alt-click, and have the reference markers "stick" to the meters (until a new click is detected). Would make it way easier to judge gain changes in the waveform and spectrum views.
Button/shortcut to freeze a "ghosted" snapshot overlay (at 25-50% opacity) in most of the meters.
Switchable DBU labels in the peak meter (can't gain-stage without 'em).
Also, why is the Hz ceiling fixed? A lot of us are working at >96khz, and definitely producing/manipulating frequencies beyond the current window limit.
Hey! Thanks for the suggestions. MiniMeters is meant to remain simple and the end goal is approachability. I don't want to increase the complexity too much.
1. In the 1.0 release there will be a far more customizable layout system. 2. This is is a good idea but I don't really have plans to add this at the moment. 3. Also a great idea. I will consider something along these lines. 4. I don't personally use those in my music making workflow so I have no real baseline idea of how or why to add this. If you have any resources that will help me understand the usefulness of this I can consider using it.
As for higher sample rates, I will likely add 48khz support as that is commonly used in film. For higher sampling rates it might be best to look elsewhere. MiniMeters is meant to simply show you what you're hearing and to provide a useful too during music creation.

I would love for the plugin to be implemented in my DAW without having to open as a seperate program. Is this something you would see possible soon?
I have been working towards it! But I do not have a date in mind when it will be ready.

Hey! What OS are you on? I agree that shouldn't really happen by default, but I wasn't aware it was an issue.
I’m on Windows 10 64bit
Thanks! I will fix this. Appreciate the report
Got it fixed here. Will be in the next update.
dropping my bug reports here cuz i don't use discord for personal reasons.
device: macbook air (M1)
OS: macOS 14.4.1
thanks for making such a wonderful app! it's genuinely taught me a lot about how audio works (especially LUFs). looking forward to v1.
Hey Eric,
Sorry you're running into issues.
Could you please redownload the latest version (0.8.19) off itch.io and see if that fixes these issues for you? Otherwise, I would recommend trying to delete the settings file by following these directions.
I also provide a support email if that is easier for you ( contact (at) minimeters.app ).
oh yeah i should've mentioned the app version i was using lol
deleted the settings file, module sizes are still resetting. waveform speed is fixed tho!
also i'd like to suggest a spectrogram speed setting too
Glad the Waveform speed seems to be working. Could you possibly elaborate on the resetting you're experiencing? The only thing I can think of right now is that the MiniMeters window is small and you're seeing things shift because of that. Does disabling any particular module fix it for you?
i sent an email to continue the bug report
Hey, unable to accept the discord invite but my issue is being unable to access the update since I did not make an itchio account when I purchased a while ago.
Just wondering, how can I authenticate that I originally purchased in order to access the update without having to purchase again?
Thanks, great product nonetheless.

Hey! I appreciate the suggestion, but for the foreseeable future MiniMeters will likely remain a 2 channel meter.
Is it compatible with Mac Sonoma 14.4?
Hey rasmibeats! I just released v0.8.18 which addresses this issue. If you are still running into trouble let me know!
This looks so great, but I'm concerned that it won't work on my system because the system requirements say it doesn't work with ASIO. Does this mean if I'm using Ableton Live with the ASIO Audio Driver Type on Windows 11, it will not work? Please let me know!
Hey randose,
Unfortunately due to the nature of ASIO it does not allow intercepting the audio of the device for applications like monitoring or recording.
Glad it works. I can find a way to word it better as well.
Thanks again. Looking forward to any future updates or other programs from you
So I purchased Minimeters recently and its super buggy. The screen just stays black and doesn't work. Do you know what might be causing this issue?
Loving the plugin I wish I bought it sooner. be cool if you could stack the windows on top of each other as a drag & drop
Hey thanks for picking it up... Could you elaborate on what you mean? I'm not 100% sure I understand.
Awesome program, looking forward to 1.0!
hello! When that 1.0 will be released? I’m very looking for that full screen working because I’m on laptop and every pixel count 😅
I am actively working on it every day, but I do not have a release date at the moment.
and while i'm at it :D
another amazing feature would be to add reference curve overlays for the spectrum, like for a example a pink noise curve... vision4x has this and it is awesome...
Cant believe how good this is for $10. Thank you so much!!
Ok, so... an annoying thing has started to happen ever since i updated to v0.8.16. idk how to explain, but it resets the location every time i close and open MiniMeters.
Thanks,
Joe
So, i'll try those steps you linked!
how do you update ? do i just re-download minimeters from this website?
Yeah you should be able to just download and install over the version you currently have installed.
Love this tool! It instantly improved my workflow by so much. Thank you for providing this to the community and keeping it updated!
Hi, i just bought minimeters, and when i open the .exe file, it says;
"Windows protected your PC"
"Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk."
Is it safe to run it anyway??
Sorry about the inconvenience.
every time I try to buy I get this message...
There was an error processing your payment:
If you are unsure, please contact itch.io support with the above message.
any fix?
Unfortunately I cannot help you. But it looks like the message itself tells you to contact itch. :)
Anyway, just a thought, keep up the amazing work!
Thanks for the suggestion. I have considered the same thing, but the "arbitrary" colors are simply assigned to volume. You can customize them in the theme settings if you'd like.
Love your app. I've only had it two days and it's already improved my production workflow considerably.
